You must be at least 12 as of August 30, 2025 to be eligible to be a youth umpire.  Candidates for the youth umpire program must be willing to meet the following requirements:

1. Youths age 12-17 are eligible to be paid for umpiring after attending our mandatory training sessions.
2. Returning or otherwise demonstrably experienced umpires between the ages of 18 and 22 who are still students may also be eligible for our paid program at the league's discretion.
3. Youth umpires can only umpire games involving players younger than themselves.
4. Umpires ages 15+ are required by the state of California and Little League Baseball® to complete background checks as per the requirements of the SFLL Child Protection Program.
