MAJORS DIVISION

The Majors division is designed for players little league age 11 and 12 (as of 8/31/25) who have developed strong foundational baseball skills and are ready for a higher level of competition. Majors focuses on advanced skills in hitting, pitching, fielding and base running, while introducing more complex game strategies. The emphasis is on skill refinement, teamwork, and sportsmanship, providing a well-rounded experience that prepares players for the Juniors division and beyond.

Majors is primarily for little league 12-year-olds and some advanced little league 11-year-olds. Players little league 11 have a good experience in Majors when they have been stronger players in the Rookie and Minors divisions and relish the challenge associated with being in the younger group.

It is rare, but consideration may be extended to exceptionally skilled little league 10-year-olds after participation in the skills evaluation session, recommendation by the Player Agent, and approval of the VP of Player Agents.

GAMES & PRACTICES

The season includes approximately 19 games and playoffs. Games are twice a week, one on the weekend and one on a weeknight, either in San Francisco or at SF Little League's fields on Treasure Island. Practices take place once a week, Monday through Friday, for about 1 hour. The coach determines the day, time and location for practice based on the field lottery.

Equipment

SFLL will provide each team with the equipment necessary for games and practices.  Equipment that will be provided to each team includes helmets, bats, balls, and a uniform shirt and hat for each player. Items that typically need to be purchased by the parent include a glove, baseball/softball pants, and cleats. Some parents may also choose to purchase a helmet and/or bat for their child to use.

SFLL offers equipment assistant to any family in need.  Contact your player agent if you need help getting equipment for your player.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are the backbone of our program; we depend on every family to support to the league in one way or another.

SFLL's network of volunteers come together with a common purpose and goal: to provide a positive and supportive baseball and softball learning experience for all SFLL players. We know first-hand that volunteering will be a fun and easy way to contribute to a quality baseball experience for all.  Simply put, the more involved you are, the more fun both you and your child will have!

Throughout the season, there will be a variety of opportunities for everyone to participate and contribute to the success of our teams and league, from coaching, to scorekeeping, to volunteering to help with a special event.

SFLL provides our volunteer coaches with a curriculum of activities focused on fun, fitness, and fundamentals that can be implemented during practices and games.  We also offer coaches a robust training program including in-person coaching clinics, Positive Coaching Alliance training, and more.  Learn more about volunteering.

GROUP REQUESTS, TEAM DRAFTS

There are no group or team requests in the Majors division.

Teams are formed through a player draft attended by the division coaches.

SFLL reserves the right to place kids into a division based on skills, safety and overall balance of the division.

About Little League Age

Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® Age Charts. The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Baseball player is the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current season year. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Softball player is the actual age of a child on December 31 of the previous season year. Learn more.
